At Greenwood, we build all of our attached homes with a substantial barrier between them consisting of two layers of drywall, 4 inches of air gaps, two layers of insulation, and two inches of core wall at the center. Often referred to as "party walls," these are installed firstly as safety precautions, to prevent or dramatically slow the spread of fire from one home to another. On top of that important function, the way we construct our party walls greatly mitigates sound transfer between two homes.
We can't claim that our homes are soundproof - that can only be achieved in a vacuum. That said, we challenge you to bring a friend or family member to tour two of our attached homes that are next door to each other. Take turns stomping around and yelling across the shared wall - you will be impressed at what you (don't) hear!
